Baby Department
In this department we welcome babies from 0-18 months on a full and part-time basis. We aim to provide a relaxed and friendly environment, focusing on individual care for children and their families.
There are two rooms upstairs for the babies: the baby room and the infant room. In the baby room there are two members of staff to six babies and in the infant room one member of staff to three. If the babies are confident walkers we encourage them to go down stairs to the toddler room. We gradually move them on to the Toddler Department, occasionally giving them snacks and some activities so they get to know the older children and staff. This also helps to make sure that the move is a smooth transition.
Forming bonds and friendships is part of the daily routine and our team encourages and welcomes interaction among the children. Song time, story time, and ongoing talking throughout the day all help to develop the children's language skills. We take the babies out in buggies for walks and go to the park as often as we can so that they can become aware of the world around them.
Even at this early stage, learning becomes part of everyday routine and is also good fun for them. By introducing good learning patterns we help to prepare children for moving onwards and upwards through the nursery and into school.
