Garden and Outings

In all of our departments, we aim to make the most of the outside and ensure that children get a daily dose of fresh air. We have a large secure garden, with a great selection of outdoor toys and equipment to keep us all busy. As we have a few parks nearby we regularly take a walk to them as well. We suggest to parents that they provide their children with an all-in-one waterproof suit so that we can go out in all weathers. It is good and very educational for children to be out in all weathers and it helps them build up a good immune system.
On a Wednesday we have a football coach who comes in to teach the children ball skills. Not only are they learning ball skills, he does fun games with them which involves them learning their colours, numbers, etc. incorporating our 3-5 curriculum.
A French Teacher comes in once a week to teach the pre-school children basic French, such as numbers, colours, songs and stories. This is fun orientated.
We take the children on the public bus on outings such as to the Winter Gardens at the Duthie Park. We also take the children to swimming, on picnics, to Doonies Farm and many more outings.
We go swimming twice a week so that every month all the children get a chance to take part. The ratio for this outing is three members of staff to six children.
